The Spanish Honors Society met for a meeting where they welcomed new members, introduced the executive board, and discussed membership requirements. It has been a great start to the year; we are so proud of our Spanish Honors Society Griffins!
LWE Library hosted its first coffee house before school today. The library aides served up some tasty coffee to our fellow Griffins while listening to Mr. Teare and his studio guitar class play some cool jazz. We hope to see these musicians come back and play for us again. They were fantastic!
Today English classes experienced a wonderful performance called the Theory of Relativity. There is so much talent in this cast! Great job!
The Lincoln-Way East High School Welding program can take their welding classes outdoors thanks to Lowes Home Improvement for providing the funds to accomplish this amazing opportunity. The project, built by current and former welding students with assistance from the Pipefitters Local 597, created an outstanding opportunity for our current and future welding students. -- A one of a kind outdoor welding lab, complete with engine driven welders. The National SkillsUSA organization made this possible as they are the lynch pin between industry leaders and technical education. SkillsUSA's Framework Model is Technical Skills, Workplace Skills, and Personal Skills. All three of these combined equates to helping our students become career-ready. The Class of 1962 is having their 60th class reunion this Saturday, October 1st at noon at the Hickory Creek Preserve on LaPorte Road in Mokena.

Congratulations to our Air Force Junior ROTC PT Teams for their performance at Saturday's Bloom Trail Physical Fitness Meet. Cadets from all three Lincoln-Way schools competed in the competition, which included a total of 24 teams from 16 JROTC schools across the Chicagoland area. Cadets from all three Lincoln-Way schools competed and earned 1st Place in both Volleyball and Dodgeball, 3rd Place in the baton Relay, and took 3rd Place Overall in the competition. Great job team for our best PT performance ever!
Lincoln-Way East student Molly Czechanski has been cast in the Illinois All-State Musical, SHREK! The production will take place at the University of Illinois this January. Congratulations, Molly! Break a leg!

Mrs. Johnson's German classes celebrated Oktoberfest- a traditional German folk festival. They played 'pin the lederhosen,' learned about German food and culture, and danced to German music. The students had a blast!

Mrs. Cavanaugh's AP Lit students playing “Literary Jenga” for their study of The Kite Runner.
Each Jenga piece had a color on it which corresponded to a series of tasks students could complete about the novel. These tasks ranged from identifying irony or figurative language to creating whole new symbolic covers for the book. Each color was worth a different amount of “points” and the team with the most points at the end of the hour, won!

In Support of World Suicide Prevention Day, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with the support of Lincoln-Way School District #210, the Village of New Lenox and its Safe Community Coalition are hosting “A Pathway to Hope and Healing.” In support of World Suicide Prevention Day, residents are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about suicide prevention. The event will be held at Lincoln-Way West High School. Attendees are encouraged to enter the campus off of Gougar Road and use the auditorium entrance.
This event is for parents, community members, and students. Students will earn community service hours for attendance.
