Ire Adelakun, a senior at Lincoln-Way East High School, is committed to being a voice for students when it comes to mental health. His involvement in the Bring Change 2 Mind club at East has opened doors for him to make an impact on an even larger scale. He joined the BC2M National Teen Advisory Board, where he provides support for launching the club at other schools across the country, and he was recently selected as one of six students nationally to speak at a mental health conference in Iceland this June.

Students from LWW & LWC's Environmental Action Club engaged in hands-on learning at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, testing and exploring the health of nearby waterways - a practical approach to understanding environmental science.
Mr. Huizinga’s Biology students at West created DNA origami as they learned about the basic structure of a DNA molecule.
The annual ArtWorks Festival was held this past Saturday. The community enjoyed a wide variety of activities including a student art show, live performances, and participating in hands-on art activities. It was a great celebration of creativity among students in the LW area!

The annual district-wide welding competition and fundraiser took place last night at Lincoln-Way Central. The welding program raffled off a a brand new 2023 Vivid EV Model V4 Monster Golf Cart with an estimated value of $14,000. With over 2,000 tickets sold, the funds raised from the raffle went toward trade scholarships for current welding students.

Warrior Way attended a Lead U program hosted by The Bridge Teen Center last week! Students participated in interactive lessons as part of the True to You presentation, designed to develop the leader that lies in each of us. Thank you for helping our leaders grow!
Joliet Junior College is visiting our students at all three schools to answer questions and help with the process of applying, selecting courses and preparing for the next step in their education.
The LWC Music Department hosted 225 fiddlers and strummers at the annual String Step-Up Concert last week! Orchestra and guitar ensembles from Lincoln-Way Central and West as well as orchestras from NLSD122, Manhattan114 and Mokena #159 performed beautifully!
Join us for the annual ArtWorks Festival at Lincoln-Way East on Saturday, March 16th from 10am-3pm. The festival will showcase artwork from 32 area schools, and there will be hands-on art activities for kids, music performances, face painting, and concessions. The event is FREE to the public. We hope to see you there!
Last week, peer helpers from Central and West attended a retreat at Camp Manitoqua, where they came together learn how to be a source of support for their peers at school.
Join the LWE Theatre Company for their spring play, The Rainbow Fish, on March 16th at 1pm or March 17th at 3pm. $10 per family suggested donation at the door. This 45-minute performance is perfect for families with young children!
Peg Tambling, retired LWC teacher and coach, was inducted into the ICA Softball Hall of Fame this week. She founded LW softball, started the tradition of excellence, and is still part of LWC softball today. Join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved accomplishment!

Lincoln-Way CHSD 210 is proud to announce that Jessica Pascarella, special education teacher at Lincoln-Way West, has been recognized through the ‘Those Who Excel’ Awards sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Pascarella received the Award of Special Recognition in the Teacher category. According to the ISBE website, “educators presented with the Award of Special Recognition have shaped their school community for the better. These educators frequently employ their talents and passions, but also strive to be of service in unfamiliar domains.”
