October 6th was German-American Day! To celebrate, German students at Lincoln-Way West took part in a program called "Meet a German." It is run through Fulbright and AATG (American Association of Teachers of German).
Lincoln-Way West students in German 3 & German 4 had a virtual meeting with Mary, a German student getting her Masters in Ethics. Students learned facts about Germany - for instance, it is considered bad luck to wish someone Happy Birthday before their birthday. In addition, Mary explained that she only pays $300 Euro per semester for her university studies! Lastly, students were interested in German bread. There are over 300 different types of bread in Germany.
Our students truly enjoyed getting to know more about the German culture.
